ITS TIME TO DO SOMETHING

You know, I like to write posts and books about a lot of topics (both political and non political) but there is a very big reason why three of my books are on the issue of gun violence and gun control and why even though I wrote a post on here yesterday on guns, that I am doing it again.

That reason is that it is an EPIDEMIC in our country. Gun violence is a very real and very major problem here in the United States and if we continue to ignore it and do nothing then things will never change and these mass shootings and other senseless acts of gun violence will continue to happen and our own will continue to die, never to be heard from again and that is unacceptable.

For years those in power on the right have done absolutely nothing on this issue and the result has been more mass shootings and more of our own dying. Democrats have tried to pass common sense reform yet Republicans always block those efforts and we remain in the same place year after year.

The cycle remains the same. We have a mass shooting and everyone is outraged and sad and offers their "thoughts and prayers" and then nothing changes and we have another one and the previous one of even a few days prior is forgotten and the same cycle repeats itself and on and on we go. This is the reality of our country and it is disgusting that we do not care about the lives of our people enough to protect them from these senseless acts of violence that seem to never stop.

As I always say, if 20 first graders getting murdered didn't bring change then nothing will and sadly that seems to be true, but I refuse to give up this fight as I have lost people to the sick disease of gun violence and as Americans we cannot sit by and let guns destroy our nation without at least trying to do SOMETHING.

Six of the ten worst (fatality wise) mass shootings in our history have happened since 2015. Let that sink in. SIX of our worst mass shootings EVER have happened in the last FOUR years and we had two major ones within 13 hours and they still say it isn't the guns, trust me, it IS the guns, it is not mental illness or video games like they try to blame it on as other nations like ours play these same games and have the same emotional and mental issues and they don't shoot each other even close to this rate.

It is the GUNS and we need common sense gun reform like the following.

- Ban assault weapons

- Ban mags over ten rounds

- Universal background checks

- Liability insurance requirement

- Mental health evals

- License and register every gun and have a database

These are common sense measures that we can all unite on and get behind. People are dying, we must do something as to do nothing makes every one of us complicit in these acts of violence and as a nation we must stand up and say enough is enough, we will not let this be our legacy!
